Geri Cey, Artistic Director

Geri Cey is a founding executive member and the Artistic Director of Step it Up Dance and is excited to be going into our 7th season!

Growing up on a farm near Clavet, Geri is a hometown gal and second generation Clavet Cougar! Geri is an award winning dancer and choreographer who began dancing at the age of 4 at Footworks Dance Studio in Saskatoon. She  has studied Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Musical Theatre, Song and Dance, Lyrical, Contemporary and Modern and continues to expand her knowledge.  Achieving her advanced ADAPT Tap and Jazz exams as well as her RAD Elementary (Intermediate), she also received drama training through Persephone theatre and the University of Saskatchewan.  Geri has participated in both dance and drama workshops and competitions throughout Western Canada, winning multiple awards and scholarships.  She was a dancer in the Dare to Dance company as well as working as a dancer for events such as Cruise Weekend in Saskatoon and the Festival of Trees. 

Geri has been teaching since the age of 14, starting as an assistant then moving on to a full teaching position at the age of 18. She taught for 10 years then took a few off to pursue a family and career.  Geri was happy to get back into teaching and dancing when Step it Up began, and is now enjoying the balance of career, family and dance.  

Geri is ADAPT (Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers) certified in Tap and Jazz, and recently obtained the Acrobatic Arts certification (Module 2). Geri is also proud to be a Rhythmworks Integrated Dance certified instructor, as well as a member of the Saskatchewan Association of Theatre Professionals. She has recently attended CDTA teacher courses and Dance Jam workshops and continues to look for professional development opportunities anywhere she can! Since assuming her role as Artistic Director, Step It Up students have seen numerous successes under her mentorship from multiple scholarships and awards to being awarded a broadcast performance spot on Telemiracle. 

Geri is excited to return and share her knowledge and love of dance with her dance family and community, and to help bring affordable professional dance instruction to her home town!!

Miss Cori

Miss Cori started teaching at Step It Up Dance Co in 2019 and is eagerly looking forward to her fourth season instructing classes in Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Ballet, and Basic Movement.

Cori is a dancer of over 15 years, with training in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, modern, pointe, musical theatre, acrobatic dance, vogue, waacking, and heels. Her competitive training includes Envisions Dance Club in Colonsay, Impact Dance Company in Humboldt, Pure Energy Dance Company in Saskatoon, and Dance Ink in Saskatoon. Cori completed her CDTA Grade 3 Tap and Jazz examinations and her RAD Grade 5 ballet examination at Impact Dance Company, and she studied further training in multiple syllabi at both Impact Dance Company and Pure Energy Dance Company.  She continues to train in a wide variety of classes today.  Cori was sure of her passion and love for dance at a very young age and emanated this dedication inside and outside of the studio.  She became an assistant teacher when she was 13, and started officially teaching at just 14 years old.  Cori has received numerous awards, scholarships, and acknowledgements for her achievements as both a dancer and choreographer.  

Cori is continuously training and further developing her skills.  Cori has been a member of the Original 16 Electric Crew professional dance team for the Saskatchewan Rush since 2019.  She had the pleasure of choreographing and performing in multiple drag shows, including one featuring world-renowned drag queen Aja LaBeija.  Most recently, Cori choreographed and performed in the Riversdale Street Fair in Saskatoon.  She happily takes any opportunity to enhance her dancing career and teaching skills!

Cori is beyond excited to continue sharing her passion of dance with her students and continue growing together as a studio and community!
